Our team

Rebecca Archer Rebecca Archer
Becky joined the Land & Development department after graduating from Lancaster University. At first, having a degree seemed to indicate that making a drink didn’t even register on the radar.....but we soon sorted that out! Becky’s “up to the minute” fashion sense gives us great scope for taking the mickey – and we are getting really, really good at it. As is typical of all the younger members of staff, Becky has only been here a few weeks..... but now amazingly knows everything........us older ones must have been slow learners over 30 years!!

Clare Belton Clare Belton
Sales Manager
We need this photograph of Clare to remind us what she looks like, as she spends so much time on holiday! She also has a passion for designer clothes……and expensive homes……and expensive cars…..and fine wines……and good restaurants – what a life – can we join in? We even have posh tea and coffee in the office now….Keep working Joe!

Mick Burridge Mick Burridge
Contracts Manager
The “Biggles” of Chestnut Homes, Mick is a fully qualified glider pilot who likes nothing better than floating around in the clouds (bit like Clare really!). Mick’s also just bought a motorbike (no mention of mid life crisis please!), he’s convinced his wife will go away for biking weekends with him…..but we think different. Stick to the gliding Mick.

Rob Cucksey, Contracts Manager

Rob Cucksey
Contracts Manager
Rob has the theme tune from ‘Mission Impossible’ as a ring tone on his mobile – and he tries to make us believe that it ‘sums his job up’ – a likely story. For example, quite often you get asked the question ‘do you remember that chip out of the bunker on the 5th hole -----‘ – get the picture (we know where he actually spends his time)

Alan Evans, Architect

Alan Evans
Architect
Super fit Alan cycles to work, goes for a run at lunch time, another run in the evening and still has time to do a bit of design work! We have to keep an eye on Alan’s ‘green ideas’ or all our new homes would be underground, lit (and heated) by a single candle, and all food would be produced at the back door (maybe not such a bad idea!!)

Sue Goddard, Accounts & Payroll

Sue Goddard
Accounts & Payroll
We have been trying to get rid of Sue for years, but she’s part of the furniture!
She survives on cigarettes, lettuce sandwiches and knowing other people’s business – no wonder she’s only 4’ 2” (when wearing platforms!). Known as our pet ‘Meer Cat’ – nothing gets past the front office without Sue knowing. (Anyone looking for someone in their accounts office, call 01522 ---------)

Neil Kempster, Land and Development Manager

Neil Kempster
Land and Development Manager
We’re not too sure what Neil does – he drives around in a big car purporting to buy land, but really we think he is working for the opposition the amount we pay for sites! Due to his ‘spikey’ hair, he is now known as the ‘mole’, we just hope that his two lovely daughters have inherited their hairstyles from their mum!

Vince Manterfield, Surveyor

Vince Manterfield
Surveyor
Mr. Motorsport himself – Vince is building his very own kit car – or should we say he has started to build his own kit car! He has been on it so long that he is on the third set of cills!,although it is a bit quicker than he sorts the price increases out for the lads on site! Vince does a good job at negotiating with our contractors, but I would like here and now to squash the rumours that he was thrown out of the Gestapo for cruelty!

David Newton, Managing Director

David Newton
Managing Director
You would not find a more generous, easy going, likeable boss anywhere. He looks after his staff, and customers as if they are family. Talking of families, David is a devoted family man, and goes to the ends of the earth to ensure their happiness. (Can you guess who wrote the above???). Now for the real David Newton (what ‘the staff’ say). With a boss like Dave, it’s hard to see how anyone, other than the staff of ‘The Office’ could have more fun at work. Always open to creative design ideas and new building techniques (as long as he comes up with them!).

Liz Penniston Liz Penniston
Marketing Co-ordinator
Liz has worked for the company for 6 years, starting as a sales negotiator, before moving to head office to become an 'excellent sales administrator' ( her words, not ours ). She has recently changed roles and is now the Marketing Co-ordinator. She likes her holidays and is a keen swimmer, although we have it on good authority that she often doesn’t go anywhere near the pool, just has a coffee and then wets her hair so that her partner, Andy, is none the wiser when she gets home!

Ann Roberts Ann Roberts
Accountant
Ann is the Carol Vorderman of Chestnut Homes and looks after our accounts department. She is married to Mick with two grown up sons and her babies: Ben, Sam, Rosie and Suki, her beautiful golden retrievers. Ann has many passions out of work, such as tennis, tennis, oh and tennis! You know those people you see camping outside Wimbledon for hours on end just to get a good seat? No, we’re not joking – she really does! She is always immaculately dressed, loves her designer accessories and can often be found flicking through a copy of “Modern and Mature” magazine.

Danny Rounce Danny Rounce
Contracts Manager
Danny’s a Manchester United fan, (we must add another question to our interview forms to prevent this happening again). Danny was originally a plumber, or “leak a week” as he was affectionately known. Danny decided it was time for a career change when his mates bought him a pair of waders for work!

Steve Smith, Buyer/Technical Manager

Steve Smith
Buyer/Technical Manager
We thought Steve was OK, but then discovered that he’s from Mansfield! (That’s the very strong team in the second division – that props the others up)
As you will see from the photograph, Steve goes to the same hairdresser as Alan Evans (but not very often!). Steve has been with the Company forever – or does it just seem that way? We have just managed to bring Steve into this century and get him to use a computer – but he still brings in some cheese every day for the mouse – and we are forever cleaning Tippex off the screen!
