Local Area Information
A bustling market town with a rich heritage, Boston has a wealth of excellent facilities on offer including excellent schools and colleges, hospitals, theatre, and cinema. Situated on the East Coast, Boston has always been a great trading centre, and in it’s heyday it rivalled London in terms of trade and revenue, and briefly in the 13th century actually eclipsed London as the leading port in England.
Today it is a thriving market town with markets held twice weekly, selling everything from fresh food to bric a brac. The town is dominated by the majestic St Botolph’s church, known locally as the Boston Stump, a 272ft monument to medieval workmanship.
Boston has an excellent selection of shops: from high street names, to more intriguing specialist shops and boutiques, and boasts a wide selection of pubs and restaurants, each with their own distinctive character.
There are plenty of sport and leisure facilities to choose from, such as golf courses, leisure centres, tennis courts and horse riding but for those who simply want to get away from the hustle of the town the surrounding area offers miles of peaceful unspoilt coast and countryside.
