Yakup is building his career with Chestnut Homes

A former site labourer is celebrating after working his way up through the ranks to become a site manager for us.

Yakup Kacar, 36, started out working on site at a development we built in Sturton by Stow and soon worked his way up to become a forklift driver.

When work at Sturton by Stow ended, Yakup moved on to Manor Farm in Bardney. He has since gone on to work at our developments all over Lincolnshire, including Riverside in Boston and Foxby Chase in Gainsborough.

Yakup has most recently been working in Coningsby, where he has overseen the building of 14 new affordable homes at Milson Close.

Yakup, who lives in Dunholme, said: “I started working for Chestnut Homes on January 2nd 2002, after someone I knew who had been working on groundworks on one of their sites recommended them to me.

“I’ve been with the company for 13 years now and I really enjoy my work. I became a site manager in 2013 after Chestnut Homes put me through the relevant courses. They have been very good to me and have really supported me.

“Chestnut Homes is very much a family business and because of that, I feel like I’m part of the family and all of my efforts are appreciated.”

David Newton, Managing Director of Chestnut Homes, said: “Yakup has been with us for 13 years now and it’s fantastic to see his career flourish. He’s been invaluable to us and has been an integral part of the team at each of the sites he’s worked on.

“Yakup’s story is a classic example of rising through the ranks through hard work, and he should be very proud of his achievements. When we recruit, we’re always looking for hardworking people who want to progress like Yakup.”
