Boston Foodbank receives 100 advent calendars for local children

Children being supported by Boston Foodbank will receive a festive treat in their food parcels this Christmas. Chestnut Homes has gifted 100 advent calendars to the foodbank to be distributed to local families during December.

Boston Foodbank, based at The Rectory Offices in Fishtoft, is part of a nationwide network supported by the Trussell Trust – a charity that works to end hunger and poverty in the UK. The charity provides three-day emergency food parcels to those in need, as well as providing toiletries and other essential items, such as pet food.

Bob Taylor, Foodbank Manager for Boston Foodbank, said: “It’s wonderful that our food parcels will contain advent calendars this Christmas, which will allow our clients to make the most of the festive season.

“On behalf of our clients and volunteers, I’d like to say a big thank you to Chestnut Homes for their generosity.

“We are also very grateful to the people of Boston who’ve all been so giving with their donations to the foodbank during the pandemic, which has had a huge financial impact on many of our clients.”

Helene Key, Sales Manager for Chestnut Homes, said: “It is a heart-breaking reality that for many families, buying an advent calendar for their children is a luxury they simply cannot afford.

“We hope that this donation of advent calendars will enable Boston Foodbank to spread some festive cheer to local children while providing essential support to families most in need this Christmas.”
