Chestnut Homes staff conquer Lincoln 10k for Macmillan Cancer Support
Two members of the Chestnut Homes team did us proud at this year’s Lincoln 10k road race.
Sarah Jowett and Rebecca Archer completed the run and raised £225 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sarah, the PA to Managing Director David Newton, and Land and Development Manager Rebecca, were among the thousands of people who tackled the route past some of Lincoln’s historic landmarks.
Sarah completed the race in her personal best time of 51 minutes 46 seconds.
She said: “I’ve run the Lincoln 10k for the past four years and it’s a great race. I’m a member of a running club and tend to run two to three times a week so I felt prepared for the race and was delighted to achieve my personal best time.
“There was a really good atmosphere on the day. The sun was shining which brought out lots of spectators and it was great to have a Chestnut Homes colleague in Rebecca taking part in the race.
“Macmillan Cancer Support is a wonderful cause so it was nice to be able to raise some money for them, and we’d both like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
Rebecca took part in the race for the first time since 2008, after taking a break to have her baby daughter Erin, who is now aged five.
She said: “I entered the Lincoln 10k at the beginning of the year as a keep fit incentive and it was great to be involved in the race again this year.
“My training programme consisted of late night running with my cockerpoo puppy Jensen, which was ideal preparation for me but sadly didn’t burn off his excess energy as I was hoping.
“I really enjoyed the race and have got the bug for running again.”
Sarah and Becky have both signed up for the Lincoln Half Marathon in October and are recruiting other Chestnut Homes staff members to join them.Back To News
