Housebuilder’s staff train to become lifesavers

Staff at a Lincolnshire housebuilder have been trained to become lifesavers as part of a county-wide first aid initiative.

Chestnut Homes hosted a training course at its head office in Langworth, near Lincoln, to support BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Save a Life campaign, which is aiming to train 10,000 people in emergency CPR.

The medical charity LIVES led the first aid training, which will be rolled out to Chestnut Homes’ development sites across Lincolnshire next year.

The housebuilder is also set to install life-saving defibrillators at each of its development sites.

David Newton, Managing Director of Chestnut Homes, said: “We’re proud to be supporting the Save a Life campaign and I’d urge as many businesses as possible to take part in the training.

“The chances of surviving a cardiac arrest outside of hospital are slim, so these vital skills may be the difference between life and death. Therefore, we will be rolling this training out to all our sites in the new year.  

“We hope our staff will never find themselves in a situation which requires emergency first aid, but through our training with LIVES they now have the skills to potentially save somebody’s life.

“To maximise the chances of survival, we will also be installing defibrillators at our sites in the new year and training our staff how to use them in an emergency.”

BBC Lincolnshire launched the Save a Life campaign earlier this year, after one of its newsreaders suffered a cardiac arrest and received life-saving CPR from a passer-by.
