Housebuying couple find the one and only at The Meadows

It was love at first sight for housebuying couple Charlotte Hudson-Davis and her fiance Conner Pearce.

After stepping inside the three-bedroom Chestnut Homes property at The Meadows in Dunholme they instantly knew they were made for each other.

“We fell in love with the house straight away,” said Charlotte, a 24-year-old hospital secretarial assistant. “Conner and I did not have to say anything to each other. We walked round the showhouse and then we gave each other a look that said: ‘I love this place. It is perfect.’ “It ticked all our boxes. It was detached and beautifully set out. It had a large kitchen-diner, a utility room, three bedrooms, an en suite to the master bedroom, a driveway, a garage and a big garden. It was everything we wanted.”

The only problem was that Charlotte and Conner, a 26-year-old project manager for a software company, had not even put their old house up for sale.

Charlotte had bought the two-bedroom mid-terrace house at Chestnut Homes’ LN6 development in Lincoln in 2016, before the couple got together and Conner moved in.

While the house had been ideal for Charlotte when she was living alone, the couple soon decided they wanted a bigger place that they could both call their own.

“We were sort of thinking about moving but had not even put my house on the market. We wanted more space and to have a house together which was ours, not just mine. “Having bought with Chestnut Homes before I knew their houses were well-built, so I set my heart on buying with them again. “We went to look at houses on two other developments nearby but we knew in our heart of hearts that the Henley house we had seen at The Meadows was the one and only. We went back to the sales office at The Meadows and asked them what we needed to do next to get that house.”

The sales team at Chestnut Homes sprang into action and used the Easy Mover Scheme to help Charlotte and Conner’s dream come true.

With the scheme, Chestnut Homes appoint independent agents to value the buyer’s existing home and agree on a price. They then liaise with the estate agents, follow up on all brochure requests and viewings, and pay the estate agent fees.

“The sales advisor Julie was amazing,” said Charlotte. “Basically, she just took over the whole process which allowed us to sell my old house and move into our new home. “She was just so professional and approachable and kept us informed every step of the way. We sold my house in three days and saved £2,000 in estate agent fees.

“We are going to use the money we saved to do up our back garden. We are going to extend the patio area, lay some lawn and have some raised flower beds built.”

The couple are enjoying the extra space their new home provides and Charlotte says her favourite room is the kitchen-diner.

“I like to cook and bake and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I was able to pick the worktops, cupboard doors and flooring before we moved in, so it really does feels like my own kitchen. “Conner and I spend a lot of time in there, eating and catching up. We have two cats called Cleo and Marcos and they often pop in too but are still exploring all the new space. “Conner works from home and at the previous house he had a desk in the spare bedroom, which was used for storage, so that was far from ideal as an office. Now we have two spare bedrooms and Conner uses one of them as his dedicated office space. “At the old house we had an allocated parking space which was across the road. Conner likes to wash and polish his car every week so having a garage and driveway is heaven for him.”

Charlotte said what she loved most about living at The Meadows was the strong sense of community. “I work at Lincoln County Hospital and it used to take me about 20 minutes to half an hour to get to work by bus and it’s about the same from here.

“What is lovely about living here is that when I walk to the local bus stop people say hello and stop to have a little chat and that is a wonderful start to my working day. “There is a real village feel to this place and everyone is so friendly. There is a Co-op in Dunholme and we often walk down there and get into conversations with neighbours along the way.”

Charlotte and Conner have not set a wedding date yet as they are happy to carry on their love affair with their new house. “We are in no rush to get married at the moment as we want to concentrate all our efforts on loving our new home.”

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at The Meadows, with prices starting from £239,950.
