Lincoln Grand Prix organisers thank housebuilder for support
Organisers of a major cycling event in Lincoln have thanked their headline sponsor for helping make this year’s race such a success. Thousands of people lined the city’s streets on Sunday, May 12, to watch elite cyclists compete in the Chestnut Homes Lincoln Grand Prix.
We were proud to be the headline sponsor for the third year in a row, after donating £12,000 towards the overall running costs of £50,000 for policing, road closures, stewards and event facilities for visitors.
The event featured a 63-mile race for women and a 103-mile race for men, with both routes taking riders through the city centre past the castle and cathedral.
Race Organiser, Dan Ellmore, said: “The Lincoln Grand Prix would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, so we are extremely grateful to Chestnut Homes for helping to make this year’s event such a success. “Thousands of people turned out to watch the race, which is great for the city’s economy and profile, and we were really blessed with the weather, which was warm and dry but not too hot. “The Chestnut Homes Lincoln Grand Prix is an iconic event, with cyclists facing the cobbled uphill climb of Michaelgate before finishing in Castle Square, and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the spectacle.”
David Newton, Managing Director for Chestnut Homes, said: “We are proud to be sponsors of the Chestnut Homes Lincoln Grand Prix, which is one of the biggest events in the city’s calendar, and we are thrilled that our support helped to make it a success. “As a Lincolnshire housebuilder, we understand how important this event is for the local community and it is wonderful to see it going from strength to strength.”
Chestnut Homes is currently building homes in Lincoln, Boston, Dunholme, Coningsby, Bardney, Louth and Alford. Further information can be found at chestnuthomes.co.uk.Back To News
