Return to the UK meant new home for family of four

Returning to the UK after a three-year stint in Las Vegas meant that Sarah and Glyn Gogerty were on the hunt to find a new family home.

The pair, along with their two children, Cameron, 11, and Erin, eight, ended up discovering their dream five-bedroom house at The Meadows development in Dunholme. Once Glyn, a 41-year-old former Wing Commander for the RAF, finished his posting in Las Vegas last year, the family could settle down in this desirable corner of Lincolnshire. The Gogertys now hope to remain in their new home for the foreseeable future since Glyn is working as a civilian at RAF Coningsby.

Sarah, 38, said: “As we knew we were going to settle down in the next property we bought, we had to choose carefully to ensure the home we picked suited our lifestyle and needs.”

After liking the look of the Farnham house type at The Meadows on Rightmove at the end of 2019, Glyn came back to the UK in January last year to view the development.

Sarah said: “The Farnham house type caught our eye online as the floor plan ticked all our boxes. We ended up reserving it shortly after Glyn visited the UK. “The kids and I only saw it for the first time a couple of weeks before we moved in last August, but it was just as perfect as I’d imagined. “All the rooms are spacious and we’ve been able to create a separate games room for the children. The kids both have large bedrooms and Erin even has her own en suite.”

Prior to their rented home in Las Vegas, the Gogertys lived in a five-bedroom townhouse to the North East of Lincoln for 11 years.

Sarah said: “We were familiar with Dunholme as we’d lived in Lincolnshire for a long time before. “The main draw of the development is its proximity to the well-regarded William Farr School, which Cameron and Erin are now both in the catchment area for once they start secondary school.”

Another perk of living at The Meadows is that they are just a short stroll from Sarah’s parents’ house, who moved to the development from Billericay, Essex, just four months after them. Sarah said: “It’s so nice having Mum and Dad close by, even though if it’s just a wave and chat from the front door at the minute. We are looking forward to spending more time together once it’s allowed.”

The family of four are also enjoying going on scenic walks around the area, which is ideal for taking out their five-month-old French bulldog, Opie. Sarah said: “It’s been lovely discovering new walks with the children and puppy; we’ve been particularly enjoying the walk to Watts Wood just up the road. “Dunholme has a lovely village feel and we are excited to explore more of it once lockdown restrictions ease.”

Sarah also praised the customer service she received even though there was an eight-hour timezone difference between the USA and the UK. She said: “The sales advisors were always quick to reply and maintained good communication despite the time difference.”
