Students Challenged to design a new home

Two sisters are enjoying retirement in their brand new bungalows after they both chose to make the move to our Foxby Chase development in Gainsborough.
Mary Charters and her husband Neil moved from Biggleswade, Hertfordshire, to their three-bedroom Oakley bungalow at Foxby Chase, our development off Foxby Hill, in late 2013.

Mary’s sister Anne Norris came up from to visit her from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and was so impressed by what she saw that she decided to follow suit, swapping her home for a two-bedroom Portman bungalow at Foxby Chase.

The sisters live close to each other at the development and, while 55-year-old Neil is at work at a local RAF base, Mary and Anne enjoy spending time together going to the gym, dog walking and going on day trips.

Mary, 60, said: “When Neil and I were looking to relocate, we looked at different areas of Lincolnshire and we kept coming back to Foxby Chase again and again. We chose it because we love the house and the position it is in, on the hilltop overlooking Gainsborough, and the fact that it’s not far from the town centre.

“We were living in a four-bedroom house before, but the kids had moved out and we didn’t need the space anymore, so we decided to downsize. It’s been a great move and we’re really happy in our lovely new home.”

Anne, 66, said: “When I came to visit Mary when she first moved in, I really liked the development, so I decided to go for it and buy a bungalow there too.
“It’s a really nice home and living in a bungalow is so convenient for me. I’ve also got a lovely view, as my bungalow is at the top of the hill.

“Gainsborough Lea Road railway station is just nearby, which is handy – Mary and I have been to Meadowhall and Lincoln to go shopping. We also have family in Manchester, so it’s great to have a good rail connection close by as it means we can easily go to visit them and get back within a day.”

Building work is now complete at Foxby Chase, where we began construction more than a decade ago.

Only two homes remain for sale at the development – the four-bedroom Middleton and Silverton homes.
