The peaceful county of Lincolnshire is the ideal place for a day out, and with the summer sun finally here, we’ve pulled together a list of the best picnic places in Lincolnshire for your next adventure.  

 

1) Willingham Woods

This stunning Nature Reserve is an ideal location for a picnic, with its scenic landscape, nature trails, two ponds and forestry making it perfect for a bit of family time (including the dog!).  

 

2) Sutton on the Sea 

Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe LN12 2ET 

Who doesn’t love a picnic on the beach? Sutton on the Sea is one of Lincolnshire’s top attractions due to its golden sand beach along the coast. If you’re looking for a charming, traditional seaside visit and the chance to cool off in the sea, Sutton on the Sea is for you.  

 

3) Anderby Creek  

Sea Road, Anderby Creek, PE24 5XW 

For those looking for somewhere quieter, why not try Anderby Creek, a serene, natural beach along the Lincolnshire coast. With equestrian facilities, beach cafés and the small village of Anderby Creek nearby, it’s an excellent option for a family day out.  

 

4) Hubbard’s Hill 

Crowtree Ln, Louth LN11 0QW 

Hubbard’s Hill is a great option for nature lovers. Brimming with charming scenes of forestry and wildlife, it’s home to the River Lud and has plenty trails following the meandering valley. So, if you’re looking for a place to picnic surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors, Hubbard’s Hill is a must visit. 

 

5) Whisby Nature Park  

Moor Ln, Thorpe on the Hill, Lincoln LN6 9BW 

Rich with history, Whisby Nature Park is a lovely location overflowing with life and vegetation. The reformed barren land has grown into a spectacular landscape full of nature trails, wildlife and views. With a café onsite and all dogs welcomed with open arms, Whisby Nature Park is definitely a fabulous place to enjoy a spot of food outdoors.  

 

6) Hartsholme Country Park 

Skellingthorpe Rd, Lincoln LN6 0EY 

Hartsholme Country Park has roots which date back to the Victorian times, as well as woodlands and an extensive reservoir. Located just off the city centre, the gorgeous County Park is dog friendly which makes it the ideal place for an adventure with loved ones. 

 

7) Tattershall Castle 

Sleaford Rd, Tattershall, Lincoln LN4 4LR 

Built in the 15th century, the National Trust property Tattershall Castle is a beautiful location full of nature and history. Pack up your favourite goodies and bring it with you to the Castle grounds and enjoy the excellent view of the flower fields. 

 

8) Burghley House 

Burghley House, Stamford PE9 4QN 

The great estate of Burghley House was built in the 16th century and contains wonderful stately rooms, gorgeous garden trails and a woodland adventure themed play area that’s perfect for kids. The stunning grounds are a great choice for historical day out. 

 

9) Wyberton Walk  

West End Road, Wyberton PE21 7LP 

The Boston Woods Trust nature walk takes a scenic route through Jenny’s Wood, Sir Joseph Banks Country Park and Westgate Wood. Planted by local volunteers in 1999, Westgate Wood covers 23 acres, with lots of beautiful trees and shrubs such as the alder, ash, birch, dog rose and hawthorn, to gaze at. The land next to Westgate Wood is an arboretum dedicated to the Lincolnshire botanist Sir Joseph Banks. Why not stop for a little picnic along the route and take in all the wildlife. 

 

10) Hill Holt Wood  

Hill Holt Wood, Norton Disney, Lincoln LN6 9JP 

Hill Holt Wood is an environmental social enterprise with vast grounds stretching to 34 acres. The woods are brimming with a range of plants, wildlife, nature trails and other activities.
