Why new homes in West Lindsey stood out for first-time buyers

First-time buyers from West Lindsey are thrilled to be purchasing their first home. Simon and Hayley Lynns from Welton, near Lincoln, found their dream home at The Meadows development in the neighbouring village of Dunholme. Simon, an electrician for a local firm, whose wife Hayley works in administration for a local care home, said: “We had looked at other new build properties in the area but felt they were all very bland, brick boxes and just looked the same.  “We liked the mix of styles of homes that Chestnut Homes were building and the care they are taking to create such a nice environment to live in.”

The couple who currently rent a two-bedroom, mid-terraced home in Welton will be one of the first occupants of The Meadows, having been one of the first to reserve there. Simon adds: “We chose a three-bedroom, L-shaped detached home called The Rest and are really happy with the design and extra space we will be gaining. “We are using Help to Buy to purchase the property and the Chestnut Homes sales staff have been very helpful and guided us through the process.”

Backed by the Government, the Help to Buy scheme allows purchasers to secure a new home by way of a small deposit and a 20 per cent equity loan from the Government, meaning that they only need a 75 per cent mortgage but still own 100 per cent of the property.

Help to Buy is open to all buyers, not just first-time buyers who are looking to buy a new home. If buyers have a minimum deposit of just five per cent and meet the mortgage lender’s affordability criteria, they may be able to buy their new home using this scheme.

Simon explained: “We haven’t bought a property before, and it hasn’t been anywhere near as stressful as we expected. We are excited about moving into our first ‘own home’ in July.”

We are currently building a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes at The Meadows, located on Lincoln Road in Dunholme and the development is open daily from 10.30am to 5.30pm. The sales advisor can be contacted on 01673 262798.
