Finding a great new home doesn’t need to be a long ‘Chase’!

She’s been a contestant – and outpaced the fearsome Governess – on ITV’s pressure-chamber quiz show The Chase.

So, questions about buying a house must have seemed straightforward to Lincoln-based police employee Candice McKane (25). She and partner Marcus Goodridge (26) a finance officer at the University of Lincoln, have just bought a new two-bedroom house at Chestnut Homes’ LN6 development near the heart of the city.

Unlike the quiz show, it wasn’t a long Chase!

“We’d not really been actively looking for a house for that long,” said Candice. “We knew we wanted our own house in Lincoln, we knew we’d like a new house – and there really is nothing as good as this development that’s so close to town. ”The LN6 development looks great as well as being convenient. It features attractive modern homes, open space, trees and a boardwalk.

Marcus and Candice, who met while both studying at the University of Lincoln, had previously been living together in a one-bedroom rented flat in the city.

“We’d outgrown living in a flat,” said Candice. “Living in a house not only gave us more space but was also economically sensible because it meant getting on the property ladder. “And a rented place is never really your home. You can’t do certain things like painting a room or getting a pet. I’m looking for a kitten…”

The couple were able to look round the De Ros show home at LN6 before choosing their own place on the development.

“We loved the De Ros,” said Candice. “We liked the open-plan style downstairs and the fittings like the kitchen cabinets and worktops were of a high standard. There’s also a downstairs cloakroom. “Upstairs, both the bedrooms are a good size, and the master bedroom has a really good built-in wardrobe. ”A city lifestyle was also important to the couple. All the attractions of Lincoln city centre are nearby – in fact within walking distance of the development. “Marcus walks into work,” said Candice. “I tend to drive. But it’s nice to live in a city, especially one like Lincoln which has all the historical side – the Cathedral and the Castle – as well as all the shops and bars.”

And why did they buy a new house?

Candice said: “I think we really liked the fact that with a new build you get the chance to personalise it from the start and really make it yours. “We’re both busy too, and not very into DIY. We didn’t want to buy a house and flip it. We’ve moved straight in here and it already feels like ours.” Candice said she and Marcus were really happy with Chestnut Homes for the way they helped them as first-time buyers through the house-purchasing process. “Any little niggle has been really well handled,” said Candice. And in summary, she and Marcus agree: “We’ve made a good decision. We’re really happy where we are.”

A choice of two and three-bedroom house remain for sale at LN6.
