Newlyweds celebrate buying their first home together

Newlyweds Sian and George Wilkinson are celebrating buying their first home together despite having lived together for nearly a decade.

The couple previously lived in Wales and spent a few years in Dubai before choosing to start their next chapter at The Farmstead, on Chestnut Homes’ Wyberton development. Although the couple have been together since 2015 and have 3 children from a previous relationship, the pair have never owned a home together.

When they decided to return to the UK - after George’s surprise proposal on Sian’s 50th birthday - they wanted to look for a different location for their first joint home together. Following their wedding in December 2022, the newlyweds picked up the keys to their new home three months later.

“We werent keen to get another mortgage and we found we could get better value for money outside of Wales,” said Sian. “Our families are mostly on the east coast, and since I had no ties to Wales and our children had grown up, we decided to look into Lincolnshire.”

A major motivation to move to the region was to be near Sian’s daughter, who is hoping to be posted in the RAF in Coningsby.

Sian added: “I’ve been blown away by how friendly everyone is in Lincolnshire. Throughout the entire purchase, Chestnut Homes was so helpful and The Farmstead development has such a wonderful community, it felt like the perfect place for our next chapter. We’ve been so pleased with Chestnut Homes that we’re even hoping our daughter buys her first home at the Kings Manor development in Coningsby.”
