Could the home office move to the top of house buyers’ wishlists?

With an increasing number of jobs offering flexible working options, the home office could become as much of a new home necessity as a kitchen!

While the introduction of social distancing measures by the Government to try and stop the spread of coronavirus has resulted in many more of us working from home in recent weeks, figures suggest this was already a growing trend.

According to data from Merchant Savvy*, 68 per cent of companies in the UK reported to having a flexible workspace policy and 73 per cent of people considered flexible working to be the new normal.

Helene Key Sales Manager of Chestnut Homes, said: “Over recent years the home office has become an essential on the typical homebuyer’s wish list. “We often see buyers getting creative, transforming spare bedrooms and dining areas into workspaces to accommodate their needs. “In response to this growing need, we have been quick to ensure that our properties met the increased demand from buyers for houses with a home office.”

The Rowan, Highfield House, Arundel House, The Pheasantry, The Bressingham, The Appleyard, Park House, The Orpington and The Farnham are all examples of Chestnut Homes house designs which include a study. Helene said: “These homes have proven extremely popular and with the current situation, I’m sure more people will now see the value a home office can bring. “I believe that in the coming months, we could see a surge of buyers looking for properties with a dedicated workspace as the increased popularity of flexible working continues. The home office could even become as essential as a kitchen.”

We offer a range of homes with studies at developments across the country, many of which are available to move into now, including The Pheasantry available at The Meadows in Dunholme (Plots 25, 31 and 35), and at The Quadrant in Wyberton, Boston (Plot 135).
